Abu Dhabi Dialogue: 2011
The Small Grants Program(SGP) was launched from 2-3 March 2011 in Kathmandu. The SGP seeks to initiate new knowledge generation, extend current national research activities across boundaries, and to more effectively disseminate knowledge within the region. Research institutions from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan participated in this event. Following a call for proposals in April 2011, grants have been awarded to eight projects, with funding going to 16 institutions in the Hindu Kush Himalayan region. Research funded by this first round of grants is expected to be completed by February 2014.
The first National Conference on Pakistan’s Water Management in the Context of Climate Change took place on 11 May 2011 at the WAPDA House in Lahore, Pakistan. The primary objectives of the National Dialogue were to: 1) initiate an informed discussion among Pakistan water sector experts and policy makers on the country’s current water management scenario, and 2) explore opportunities for adaptation to climate change impacts through knowledge sharing with other countries participating in the ADD process.
